WORKSHOPS
Music therapists from the Bristol MusicSpace team give talks and workshops to staff in schools, community groups and other professionals. These may include an introductory talk about music therapy and the work of Bristol MusicSpace, a case presentation with audio-visual extracts and an opportunity for a practical session using a wide range of musical instruments. Each talk or workshop is tailored to the needs of the individual group.
We can provide in-service training to staff of nurseries, mainstream and special schools. These workshops are designed to offer ideas to staff for adapting some of the techniques used in music therapy for classroom or nursery use.
Talks and workshops can also be requested for groups who would like first-hand experience of music therapy on a one-off basis and for people interested in supporting our charity.

“…of course I know how to get through to him but this felt different and special, I felt proud of myself. Already I am putting into practice things I have learnt on this course”
(parent of a child with developmental delay)
“ We picked up lots of ideas and strategies for using music in the nursery”
(nursery nurse)
“Music seemed to offer hope and a way to understand situations better. I felt by hearing patients’ music that I could understand how they felt in a way that words wouldn’t always be able to. In that way music is an amazing way to communicate how you feel.” (medical student)
