Music therapy in residential homes

MusicSpace provides weekly individual and group music therapy sessions in a number of residential homes in the region, where residents are unable to travel to our centres. One of the homes we work in is for adults with learning disabilities. Many of the residents are also physically disabled and have conditions limiting their life expectancy. For these residents music therapy provides opportunities for interaction, emotional expression and shared creative experience. For individuals who find communication and active participation with others difficult, this regular input can contribute towards emotional well-being, exploration and development of existing motor skills and encouraging vocalisation.
